Capturing the essence of each subject is everything to me as an artist. It is of utmost importance when trying to capture who/what your subject is.
I’ve been creating since I could hold a crayon, pen or pencil. I started oil painting in high school and eventually found my way to pen and ink. Each piece is hand drawn, usually in 2-3 days. I typically start with the eyes, as that old saying is true, the eyes tell everything. I don’t use pencil as a base. Pen directly to paper, so if it’s not working, it’s crumpled up and I start again! This is the most direct way for me to achieve the results I’m looking for.
My Illustration style has gotten tighter over the years, as can be seen when you look at my more recent illustration work. As an artist I feel it’s imperative to try and always grow and evolve.
