I’m a disabled artist from Scotland. Art is my therapy and keeps me well since I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and Multiple Sclerosis. The tumor was partially removed in an awake brain operation, so I really have a hole in my brain. It’s amazing what you can do with a hole in your brain. It’s such a relief I can still draw, I get so joy from drawing, and it transports me to my happy place. I used to work in the mental health field, art therapy was part of my role, I now practice what I used to preach. I’m predominately a colored and pastel pencil artist. I draw mostly wildlife and people, but will turn my hand at any subject. My favorite thing to draw is eyes, definitely windows to the soul.
My work has been on show in a solo exhibition for over 8 months at 4 locations across Fife, Scotland, exhibiting over 150 pieces of work which consisted of colored pencil, pastel drawing, glass engraving, to pyrography. It has been a fantastic experience and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
I’ve had artwork published in the Colored Pencil Magazine, the Artists Lounge, and Ann Kullberg’s members online exhibition. I will have a piece in the ‘artist close up’ magazine this year and artwork on display at the Expo Metro in Barcelona in June.
It’s such a privilege to be a ‘featured artist’ with Camelback Gallery, I’m absolutely delighted.
